Pearls

In the evening, while listening to Dave Brubeck’s Blue Rondo à la Turk, I chose a pale pink colour for my nails – this particular pink because it had a pearl glow to it, so in a dark room it reflects light and it seems like I have jewels instead of nails.

In an English class at school, I remember the teacher enacting a character from a short story by moving her hands delicately against the blue velvet of an absent jewellery box.

Then I spent some time looking at Renoir’s paintings.

Then, I said to my mother :

sometimes I feel I am half air.
